Thanks to Kennedy´s concern about monopolies (especially AT&T´s), the satellite industry was never controlled by NASA.  As far as space-related industries are concerned, it has done reasonably well commercially.  
      Many companies engaged in satellite-related services  have also diversified into other lines of business so they are all linked from our companies page.   Satellite-specific publications and organizations are nevertheless located here, though.   So are a few of the governmental entities involved with the satellite industry.
